Townsville to Magnetic Island

Catch your flight to Townsville then make your own way to the Breakwater Ferry Terminal, where you will catch one of SeaLink’s state-of-the-art, high-speed catamarans to Magnetic Island, famous for its secluded beaches and abundant nature and wildlife. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, it is a short walk to Peppers Blue on Blue Resort located on the water’s edge overlooking the Coral Sea.

Magnetic Island

After enjoying breakfast, get ready to traverse Magnetic Island’s breathtaking landscapes on a half day guided tour. The knowledgeable guide will weave tales of the island’s intriguing history, geography, vibrant flora, and fauna.
Upon your return you can enjoy the resort pool with stunning views across to Mount Cook National Park or book a massage or treatment at the on-site day spa, before enjoying a 2-course dinner.

Magnetic Island

Today is your opportunity to visit one of the seven wonders of the natural world, the Great Barrier Reef. Take in the breathtaking beauty of the world’s largest coral reef. Today’s day trip will allow you to get up close and personal with one of Australia’s most remarkable natural gifts. You will also have a chance to explore the wonder of the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA). The first of its kind in the Southern hemisphere, MOUA will act to highlight reef conservation, restoration, and a strong connection to indigenous culture and marine tourism.

Magnetic Island

Enjoy the day at your own pace. Hire a car or jump on the hop-on hop-off bus service and visit one of the many beaches or villages on the island. Magnetic Island also has over 25km of interconnected walking tracks and trails, a remarkable opportunity to explore the island’s captivating landscapes. 
To finish off the day you will join the crew on board a beautiful 58-foot yacht. Enjoy the magic of sailing, sipping on Australian organic wines or premium local beers, nibble on delicious cheeses and watch the Magnetic Island sunset.

Magnetic Island to Longreach

This morning leave Magnetic Island with your included Sealink ferry back to Breakwater Ferry Terminal and then make your own way to Townsville Airport to catch your flight to Longreach. You will be met at Longreach Airport and taken to The Stables; your unique 4-star accommodation designed to immerse you in the outback pioneering world.
Tonight, you will enjoy a Thomson River Cruise on a historic riverboat with traditional riverbank entertainment, including a stockmen’s dinner around the campfire.

Longreach

After breakfast you will take the 20-minute drive to experience a unique Australian icon, an outback station. While at Nogo Station you will hear the tales of pioneering station life, past and present. You’ll discover the merino story in the historic woolsheds, filled with the shearer’s spirit. Join the hosts on the water run and see the stockyard ruins of the famous Captain Starlight. This visit will help you appreciate the size of outback stations, the isolation, and magnitude of the challenges of working in this remote location.

Longreach

Today is an early start. After breakfast the tour will take you to the fascinating outback town of Winton. Enjoy the story of the sheep farmer who discovered the dinosaurs with a visit to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, have lunch in the famous North Gregory Hotel, where Waltzing Matilda was first performed and learn more about the history of the song and its writer Banjo Paterson at the Waltzing Matilda Centre. You will even have time to discover the beauty of the Queensland Boulder Opal.

Longreach

Today you will visit two of the most popular outback attractions the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. 
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, constructed from timber, stone and corrugated iron, is a tribute to the unsung heroes of remote Australia. Interactive technologies will allow you to engage with the people and the stories of the outback’s past.
The Qantas Founders Museum features a world-class, multi-award winning exhibition, telling the story of Qantas from its early days in Outback Queensland to present day, the Museum offers guests a definitive historical experience of Qantas’ heritage.

Longreach to Brisbane

After you have checked out and had breakfast you will spend you last morning in the outback, clamber aboard the old Cobb & Co stagecoach, just as a pioneer would have done, and follow the old Longreach-Windorah mail route. After a billy-can lunch you will be transferred to Longreach Airport to meet your flight back to Brisbane and then your onward connection home.

Itinerary  

Our tour is carefully designed to give a real insight into the highlights and beauty of each region. Each day will be a combination of travel days, sightseeing and free time to explore. 

Pace  

The pace of this tour is moderate. The tour involves some early starts and some long travel days – see the itinerary for an indication of the distances being travelled. 

Fitness  

A medium level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including boarding and alighting vehicles and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. You will be required to carry your own baggage to and from hotels, terminals, and stations. A short walk between the ferry terminal and hotel may be required. This trip is not suitable for travelers’ requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or facilities for disabled guests. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able move about unassisted at the required pace. For advice on whether this trip is suitable for you, you must disclose physical ailments at the time of booking.  

Accommodation  

All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. The standard check-in time is after 3pm and check-out is before 10am – actual times may vary.  

Transfers  

Transfers are not included.   

Meals  

Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We endeavor to pass on your dietary requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are required to reconfirm dietary requests with your tour leader whilst on tour.  

Baggage  

Due to regional domestic carrier restrictions, a 15kg baggage limit applies. Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Exclusions  

Meals not stated, drinks on meals, airport transfers, optional programs, travel insurance (strongly recommended), visas (if required), tipping, personal expenses and anything not explicitly specified are at your own expense.  

Payment  

A first deposit from $1049 per person is required to secure your booking. The final balance will be due 3 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 3 months.  

Solo Occupancy  

A single supplement from $1500 per person is payable in addition to the twin share price for solo occupancy. 

Triple Share  

Triple share is not available.

Price  

Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.  

Amendment  

Each amendment is subject to a fee from $75 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.  

Cancellation  

Cancellation is subject to a fee from $550 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.  

Deviation  

Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing. 

Flights  

The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.  

Itinerary  

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.  

Breakaway  

Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.  

Documentation  

Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.  

Travel Insurance  

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.  

Force Majeure  

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
