Top Queensland Holiday Destinations

If you’re lucky enough to call Australia home, then you needn’t venture too far at all for quality holiday destinations. Queensland – the Sunshine State – is only a short flight from wherever you live in the country, and has something to offer for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a little beach bumming, something more adventurous or a romantic destination for two. Here are the top three Queensland holiday destinations that we think you’ll enjoy on your next trip away.

Sunshine Coast

Experience the laid-back lifestyle and almost sunny weather all year round in the Sunshine Coast, located a little over 100 kilometres north of Brisbane. From pristine white sandy beaches, to subtropical rainforests and freshwater lakes and rivers, this beautiful part of Queensland is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists alike. A plethora of quality hotels and resorts – such as the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa – can be found all throughout the region. Once you’ve settled into a place to stay, spend your days swimming and snorkelling in crystal clear waters, kayaking, visiting a local market, horse riding and trail walking before finishing up with dinner at a world-class restaurant.

Cairns

Located in Tropical North Queensland, and the main entry point for visiting the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is popular amongst backpackers, families, and those looking for a lavish 5-star holiday in a naturally stunning part of the world. Apart from taking a boat ride out to the Great Barrier Reef for a day of snorkelling or diving, adventurous tourists can throw caution to the wind and partake in a number of activities that are sure to get that adrenaline pumping. Why not blast your way down the Mighty Tully or Barron River on a white water rafting trip? Or float above the Atherton Tablelands in a hot air balloon? Or, if you’re really crazy, you can always sky dive over Mission Beach or bungee jump from Australia’s first and only Bungy Tower (licensed by AJ Hackett). There are accommodation options to suit all budgets, including the ever-popular Hilton Cairns, and numerous drinking holes and clubs/bars to keep you well hydrated – and of course having fun!

Whitsundays

If you’re after somewhere a little more secluded, quiet and romantic, then the Whitsundays archipelago is where you’ll want to stay on your next holiday. Picture palm-fringed shores, beautiful turquoise waters, and soft white sand, and you’ll be close to picturing the idyllic Whitsundays – an island group of 74 islands. Head to the Whitsunday Apartments located on Hamilton Island for a week (or two!) to rekindle the spark in your relationship in absolute style and luxury. Or spend some time on popular Daydream Island, or Airlie Beach. Don’t forget to take a cruise through the Whitsundays to truly appreciate this jewel located off the central coast of Queensland.
